Vintage UCAGCO Fruit Wall Plates: Mid-Century Hand-Painted Set of 4

A midcentury collection of 4 hand painted wall plates by the Japanese artist Hitomi for the American importer UCAGCO. These 8 inch porcelain plates date from 1950 – 1956. Each plate is accented in gold along the rim with a different still life version of fruit that is hand painted in vibrant colors. The plates have holes on the back for hanging if desired. This collection will add a bright and cheerful addition to a kitchen or dining room area thanks to the lush color on each plate.

UCAGCO (United China and Glass Company) was an importer based in the United States since the 1850s of dinnerware and glassware. In the early 1950’s, they were the distributor of many Japanese china patterns. In 1956, UCAGCO was sold to Sammons Enterprises.
