This 8-inch hand-painted ceramic vase by Nola Watkins features a striking black-and-white lighthouse set against a soft blue sky, grassy shoreline, and ocean horizon. A coastal motif wraps around the vase, with hand-brushed seagulls and textured sponge detailing along the rim. The vase is signed “Nola” on the base of the scene and bears the original gold foil label reading “The Nola Watkins Collection, Halifax, VA, Handpainted Pottery.”
Made in Virginia during the mid-to-late 1990s, this piece is part of Watkins’ early studio work before her transition into larger-scale ornament production. Known for her Americana and regional pottery, Watkins’ hand-painted ceramics draw inspiration from Southern folk art and the scenic charm of the East Coast. This piece is ideal for collectors of lighthouse decor, studio pottery, or as a cheerful accent for a beach house, nautical nursery, or coastal cottage.
