Antique Rosenthal Bavaria Bowl: Hand-Painted Roses, Gold Filigree007

Rare exterior decorated antique R&C Malmaison round bowl (9.25 inches wide) in excellent condition. Made in Bavaria by the historic porcelain factory Rosenthal & Company between 1898 – 1906 (based on the maker's mark) This intricate, hand painted centerpiece bowl has the shape design name of Malmaison.

Painted in light green with ivory and pink roses and dark green leaves. Scalloped/ Ruffled rim edging on both the top and bottom with raised filigree and gold gilt floral and scroll pattern. Made of high quality European hard paste porcelain, the same hard paste porcelain made in Limoges, France during this same period. Hard Paste porcelain tends not to craze with age such as this bowl. The makers mark on the bottom has the R C. with crossed swords and crown, and below the maker's mark reads, "Bavaria Malmaison." Rosenthal & Co. was founded in 1879 by Philipp Rosenthal in Selb, Bavaria.

Condition: Excellent – no chips, cracks, stains, crazing, or fading.
