Antique Limoges Porcelain Serving Dish: Art Nouveau Gold Trim, D&C France

A beautiful RARE serving tray made in Limoges, France by D&C (Delinieres & Co). This three section serving tray has scalloped edges, and white raised porcelain detail. With a hand painted pattern of green and red on bright white porcelain, this piece is an example of stately elegance in the Art Nouveau period. Gold gilt accents the rim, and the curved shaped handle is indicative of the Art Nouveau style.

Condition: In remarkable condition with no chips, cracks, crazing or worn paint. Purchased at auction, and has been well taken care of based on its condition.

Date of piece: Based on the maker's mark of "D&C" underlined and "FRANCE" underneath, plus the name "Bernardaud" – this piece dates to the early 1900s. Bernardaud, was Léonard Bernardaud, an apprentice during the early years of D&C that stood out from the others. Twenty years later, he was promoted to head of sales, and the founders made him a partner. The factory was later sold to Leonard Barnardaud in 1900. This piece was made exclusively for the company Thomas Co. LTD. in Quebec, the company was an importer in operation during this time period.
