Antique Royal Doulton Floral Pitcher: 1879 Victorian Earthenware Jug

Incredible craftsmanship, and remarkable condition for a pitcher made in 1879 by the Doulton Company. Made of earthenware, this squat shape pitcher has a mottled gilt band collar with a matching lower base. The handle has burnished gilding with a gold outline. The body of the pitcher is a hand painting design of chrysanthemum blooms in blue, yellow, white, and burgundy with a bronze and white patterned background.

Based on the registry mark stamped on the bottom, this pitcher was made on May 28, 1879. Dating back to before Doulton became Royal Doulton in 1902 once it gained the Royal Warrant. The piece includes the pattern number of 10665, and is signed by the artist.

Condition: Excellent condition – no chips, cracks or crazing. Small mark inside the top of the pitcher (please see last photo).

Measurements: 8.25 inches wide, 7.75 inches in height. (weighs 3 pounds, 5 ounces)
