Framed Embossed Pineapple Art: Signed Dot Goodwin, Ornate Gold Frame

This elegantly framed embossed pineapple artwork is pencil signed by South Carolina artist Dot Goodwin. Featuring a hand crafted bas relief design of a pineapple on white cotton paper. Goodwin's signature is shown below the pineapple’s leaf on the lower right side. Professionally framed in a double-matted gold and beige border, and housed in a glass-front gold-painted wood frame with ornate carvings and a beaded inner trim.

Pineapple Symbolism: First mentioned in the 16th century when seafaring colonists brought pineapples back from the Caribbean. Later the fruit evolved as the colonial symbol of hospitality, and a wish that you feel welcome during your stay.

Embossing progress: This design is made by creating a positive and negative space that is then carved into a die. The die (plate) is run through a press using 100% 4-ply, acid-free, cotton paper which causes a pressed and raised effect in the paper

About the artist: Dot Goodwin cites her hands as her favorite tool for carving surfaces, or carefully building multi-level images for casting. Her strong sense of symmetry and attention to detail are features that stand out in her work of traditional symbols.
