Vintage Japanese Cherub Vases: Floral Pottery, 1920s-40s, K Japan

This pair of vintage Japanese vases circa 1920–1940 stands 5.5 inches tall. Decorated in high-relief with a hand painted figural and floral motif, the central panel depicts a pair of cherubs supporting a pot overflowing with flowers and foliage. The flowers are rendered in earthy shades of burgundy, green, and yellow, accented with a striking deep cobalt blue blossom at the center. The background is a warm cream glaze with visible crackle consistent with age. The central panel is repeated on both sides. The vases are flanked by handles depicting tree branches. The pedestal stand and top of vase is decorated with radiating panel lines in pale blue. Each vase is marked with a “K Japan" on the base, which may indicate Kyoto as the place of origin.

Condition: Crazing consistent with age. Inside each vase is a hairline crack. A small chip is on the bottom inside rim of one vase (not visible when on display). Please see last two photos for details. Feel free to message me if you have additional questions or would like more photos.
