Stavangerflint Norway Ceramic Bowl, Inger Waage Fish Design, Scandinavian Pottery

This small ceramic bowl was designed by Norwegian artist Inger Waage for Stavangerflint, Norway, during the mid-20th century. The hand-painted interior features one of Waage’s signature whimsical fish motifs in bold primary colors and black linework, surrounded by dynamic geometric color blocks in red, green, blue, and yellow. The underside is marked with the Stavangerflint stamp and signed “Inger Waage IW,” indicating this piece was made in the mid-to-late 1960s.

Measuring approximately 3.5" wide by 2.25" high, this asymmetrical footed bowl is a fine example of Scandinavian modern ceramic design and is part of a collectible line often referred to as the "Fish" or "Smågodt" series. Waage’s work for Stavangerflint is known for its humor, vivid palette, and stylized figures, and her designs have become iconic among mid-century ceramics collectors.
