Two Vintage Norwegian Commemorative Wall Plates – Finnøy and Åkra Kirke

This set of two vintage wall plates in cobalt blue and white porcelain were made part of a limited annual series. Both plates measure 7.75 inches in diameter and feature regional Norwegian themes captured in detailed transferware designs. Illustrated by the artist Bent Borup, these limited edition plates were made by Millhouse, a Danish manufacturer known for commemorative and decorative porcelain.

1983 Plate – "Finnøy Kommune" This plate depicts a map of the Finnøy municipality with its shield at the center. Finnøy kommune was a former island municipality in Rogaland county in Norway from 1838 until it was merged into Stavanger Municipality in 2020.

1985 Plate – "Åkra Kirke" (Åkra Church) This plate depicts a church originally built in 1820 and expanded in 1852. The church is located in the town of Åkrehamn, on the western coast of the island of Karmøy.
