Vintage Arita Porcelain Bowl: Ryofu Kiln Floral Decor, Mid-Century Japan

Vintage Japanese porcelain bowl made by Ryōfūgama (Ryōfū Kiln), a mid-20th-century kiln working in the Arita ware tradition. Measuring 7.5 inches wide and 3 inches tall, this octagonal bowl features colorful, hand-painted floral panels around the exterior with red, white, and blue five-petal blossoms, each centered with yellow stamens and framed by teal green foliage. The segmented floral design is decorative rather than botanically specific, echoing common stylized motifs found in Arita ceramics of the Showa period.

The interior displays a delicate underglaze blue floral scroll around the rim and a single flower cluster in the base. The bottom bears the kiln’s mark in cobalt blue kanji: 凌風窯製 (Ryōfūgama Sei), translating to “Made by Ryōfū Kiln.”
